Kalaa specializes in classical Egyptian and cabaret styles and offers weekly classes in Virginia Beach and Chesapeake.

 

Fall Session Begins Sept 19, 2010

New Schedule will be as follows

                 Level 1 bellydance: Monday, Tuesday ... at Virginia Beach Rec Centers

                            

                                  Monday 6:45pm- 7:45pm @ Bayside Rec Center, VB

 

                            Tuesday 6pm- 7pm @ Bow Creek Rec Center, VB

               This ancient art builds strength, stamina and self esteem. Students will learn the basics of belly dance. Each class will work on building coordination, grace, strength, and flexibility. This liberating dance form is a celebration of women through movement and an ancient life-embracing art! Learn and practice basic technique including proper stance and posture, arm carriage and patterns, fundamental shimmies, isolations, introductory undulations and traveling steps.

Each class ends with a short choreography to incorporate the new movements. 

 

               Expanded Basics(Level 2):

Tuesdays 7:15-8:15 pm @ Bow Creek Rec Center, VB

Sundays 1-1:50 pm @ Magic Moments Dance Studio

              Begin exploring Middle Eastern music, rhythms and structure. This class will expand upon movements and theories taught in Level 1. Students will study layering, mastering shimmies and how to put combinations together in a classical Egyptian style. We will also focus on finding and getting the most out of your music.

Prerequisite: Mastery of content from Level 1 Technique or permission of the instructor.

The following classes will resume Sept 19, 2010

        

Level 2 & 3 have been combined into the Combinations class being taught at Magic Moments Dance Studio      

        Combinations: Sundays from 2-3 pm @ Magic Moments Dance Studio

              In this course we will continue to explore building combinations and our dance repertoire. Improvisation will be covered extensively. We will work on "improvisational choreography" and being musical in our movements and combinations! Props (sword, zills, cane, veil) will also be covered here, at length.

Prerequisite: Mastery of Levels 1 & 2 Technique or permission from the instructor

                

         Pro Class: Sundays 12:45-1:45pm @ Magic Moments Dance Studio

             The lesson plan for this class is made by you! Consider this class a semi-private for a group rate! We will work on aspects submitted by the individuals in the class, as well as, advanced technique, styling and combinations!

Prerequisite: Invitation or permission from the instructor
